Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is to come to Shaheen Bagh at about 7 pm to address party cadres and residents, according to message shared by Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan.
The MLA in a WhatsApp message to many residents informed them about the arrival of Kejriwal most probably on the same spot where he had turned up in the last Assembly elections. Then a large number of people had turned up and the equation had changed in favour of Amanatullah Khan who had won with record margin from Okhla defeating Asif Md Khan, said sources and local political watchers.
This time around Wajid Khan, Mahmood Ahmed and Juhi Khan and others are in the fray from Okhla’s several wards.
After Rajouri Garden bypoll defeat, AAP is facing its biggest test in MCD elections 2017 to be held on March 23. The civic agencies are ruled by BJP for the last many years and AAP intends to grab it from the BJP that to beat anti-incumbency has not given ticket to its sitting councilors this time around. Despite the bypoll defeat, Kejriwal had said the result would not have any impact on the MCD polls.
However, there are many political observers in the locality who feel otherwise and think that the AAP’s aura has diminished in the last few months.
