Kejriwal coming to Johri Farm to meet Khan’s family: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to visit Okhla today at about 6 pm, according to highly reliable party sources. It is understood that Kejriwal is to meet family of lawyer MM Khan, who was shot dead on May 16 a few metres from his house in Johri Farm by miscreants.
Khan, 57, was legal adviser with NDMC and was killed a day before he was to give order as Estate Officer in a case related to a hotel. He was rushed to a local Holy Family Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
Since then politics have been brewing over the issue with AAP demanding the sacking of New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) Vice-Chairman Karan Singh Tanwar.
Addressing a press conference, AAP’s Delhi convener Dilip Pandey said: “Moin Khan was a brave and honest officer. Police officers have told the media that Khan did not accept bribe to favour hotelier Ramesh Kakkar, facing a penalty of Rs 140 crore. Khan knew that it could endanger his life, but he decided to stay firm. What baffles us is the ground that Tanwar demanded in his letter that Moin Khan should be transferred and strict action should be taken against him. The ground is that he was favouring the NDMC and not the hotelier, who was facing half a dozen cases of cheating, fraud and embezzlement.”
And as the MCD elections is just a few months away chances are high that AAP will try to exploit the issue to the hilt to get political benefit, said sources.
