Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited Okhla and met Moin Khan’s family members, reports Daud Arif from Johri Farm.
Kejriwal while interacting with the media outside Khan’s house announced compensation of Rs 1 crore to Khan, who was killed by unidentified miscreants on May 16, a few metres from his house in Johri Farm.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh to the family of Mohammed Moin Khan, an estate officer of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
Announcing the compensation of Rs 25 lakh to Khan’s family, the Home Minister also directed the NDMC to provide all required help to Khan’s family and examine the possibility of providing a job to one of his family members.
PTI reported that the owner of a four-star hotel in the city and six others were arrested in connection with the murder of the 57-year-old officer, a day before he was scheduled to pass the final order in a case related to the hotel’s lease.
A family close friend told OKHATIMES that NDMC chairman was also present at the spot and assured job to Khan’s wife. Moreover, it is understood that the NDMC staff have agreed to donate one day salary to Khan’s family.
“Visited the family of Sh Khan, the honest NDMC officer, who was murdered bcoz he refused to budge to illicit demands,” the CM tweeted. “Though loss can’t be compensated, Del govt will pay Rs 1 cr to his family as mark of respect,(sic),” Kejriwal also said.
“The NDMC has offered a job to one of the family members whoever is eligible. The Chief Minister was accompanied by NDMC chairman Naresh Kumar during his visit. Expenditure on education of Khan’s children will also be incurred,” said a senior Government official.
The official further said during the meeting, investigating officers briefed the Chief Minister about the case.
“CM has asked the investigating officers to probe the case from all angles. His kin have been invited to meet the CM at his residence tomorrow,” the official said.
