Senior Janata Dal (United) leaders on Monday evening landed in L- Block in Abul Fazal Enclave and sought votes in favour of Sarwar Iqbal Khan, the party candidate from Okhla’s ward number 102S.
JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Kahkashan Perween targeted the ruling dispensations for deteriorating sanitary conditions of the ward and humbly urged people to vote for a change if they want clean water, freedom from garbage and good health.
“There is a tradition in Indian culture when a daughter or sister goes to her nearest and dearest ones, she is gifted with clothes and other valuables. I am your sister and daughter. I am not asking for clothes and valuables but I am sure you will gift me your valuable votes,” she said amid thundering claps from people.
Also, she listed the work her Government has done in the State. “The successful implementation of liquor ban, scholarship and cycle schemes to promote education, good law and order situation and roads in Bihar is enough to know my party’s intention to plunge into MCD polls in the national Capital,” she said attempting to reply why the JD(U) wants to enter the civic body.
Speaking on this occasion, Sarwar Iqbal Khan urged voters to trust his candidature and vote for him. “Lack of funds cannot be the excuse to keep the ward dirty and undeveloped. Anything can be done if you have a plan and strong will power. I am assuring you that your area will be counted among ideal wards of the city. I will leave no stone unturned,” he added.
“If I fail to fulfill the promises I will resign in six months,” he said.
