The annual techno-social sojourn and Haibib Rehman memorial lecture

The Student’s Chapter of the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi at the Faculty of Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize its Annual Techno-Social Sojourn TRIPSTER-2012 (Tripping the Barriers, Switching the Society) along with the Annual Students Convention of Delhi Section of the Indian Society of Technical Education on October 20 from 9.30 AM in the Auditorium, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, JMI.

Indian Society for Technical Education is the largest national, professional, non-profit society in India. Established in 1968, it has consistently contributed to advance the cause of technological education in the country, according to university release.

The Society contributes, in every possible way, in the development of top quality professional engineers needed by the industries and other organizations.

The theme of the convention is “ICT in Mobile Health Care”. The convention aims to provide a common platform for promoting and unfolding new dimensions of ICT in the area of health care. This would include presentations from industry, discussions of technical institutions, professionals, and R&D persons from industries across Delhi and NCR will be present on the occasion.

There are several interesting events for students such as mini marathon, robotics events, blind fold, gali cricket, dramatics etc

Siraj Hussain, former Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard and presently Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India shall be the Chief Guest in the Inaugural Function.

Prof. R.S. Nirjar, former President, Indian Society of Technical Education, will preside over the function as Guest of Honour on this occasion.

Prof. Moinuddin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Delhi Technical University, New Delhi will deliver the Key-note Address.

Haibib Rehman memorial lecture

The Subject Association, Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics is organizing the Habib Rehman Memorial Lecture Series on the 18th and 19th of October, 2012 at the Engineering Auditorium in the University campus.

This event is an avenue via which the students of architecture seek to celebrate the life and works of Ar. Habib Rehman and commemorate his contributions to the city and its people. The noted photographer Ram Rehman, also Ar.Habib Rehman's son, will address the congregation. A lecture by the eminent architect Ar. Raj Rewal, along with a photo essay on the 'Life and Works of Habib Rehman' will rekindle his philosophies and reaffirm the passion for Architecture amongst the next generation.  

Eminent architects and Practitioners across the city have been invited to discuss their work, their philosophies and the challenges they face while working for a rapidly changing society. Speakers like Nishant Lall, Ar.Abhishek Brij, C.S.Shah and Nishit Srivastav have agreed to share their experiences as well as engage with students and young architects via open discussion. It is inevitable that such an assembly will result in nourishment for both the mind and the soul, claimed university release.
