Students, staff to get free psychological counseling on campus

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) staff and students will be getting free counseling. This has been revealed by the authorities in a press release issued by the university on September 28. Since the announcement the counseling service on campus, a first of its kind, is the talk of the campus. According to the release, the objective of this service is to promote positive mental health on campus by enhancing the effectiveness of people in their social, personal, family and work life.

Staff and students suffering from distress, loneliness, mood swings, feeling of inadequacy and low confidence, lack of concentration and memory problems, examination anxiety, relationship problems,      depression, phobias, OCDs, substance abuse and others will get treatment at the centre.

Strict confidentiality will be maintained while providing this facility, says the press release.

In addition, the University Counseling and Guidance Centre will also provide psychological assessment of Intelligence, Aptitude, Interest, and Personality, if the need be, mentions the release.

The counseling timings will be 1 to 5 PM on Monday and Wednesday and 10 to 2 PM on Tuesday.
