The Outreach Programme, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize a programme on “Seeking Palestine”.

The programme revolves around the book “Seeking Palestine: New Palestinian Writing on Exile and Home” edited by Raja Shehadeh and Penny Johnson published by Women’s Unlimited.

The session will address questions around – How do Palestinians live, imagine and reflect on home and exile in this period of a stateless and transitory Palestine, a deeply contested and crisis-ridden national project? How can exile and home be written?

This new publication takes on these powerful questions. In responses that are poignant, humorous and reflective, but always intensely political, fifteen outstanding Palestinian writers – essayists, poets, novelists, critics, and memoirists – present their experiences, reflections and polemics on exile and home, according to media coordinator.

The session will include readings from the book by Ritu Menon, Githa Hariharan and Sudhanwa Deshpande.

The programme is scheduled to be held on April 13, 2012 at 3 PM in Yaser Arafat Hall, adjacent to Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Jamia Millia Islamia.
