The moderator of JMI Yahoo directory Tauheed Khan is under fire for blocking a post by another alumnus. The post written by a Sharjah-based alumnus Mohammed Asif was blocked because it had raised pertinent questions on the functioning of the JEAA. Later on the post was carried by OKHLA TIMES under the headline: “JEAA board asked to clarify on conclave, its functioning.” However, the story was blocked by Khan. On February 19 the community portal received this message from Khan: “Not approved on grounds of personal attack.”
In reply the editor wrote: “There is nothing personal in it. If that was the case then why did you accept JOBA report?” Since then Khan has gone quiet. All efforts by OKHLA TIMES to contact him have failed. Interestingly, after two days he has not deemed it fit to reply to the email. Other alumni also confirmed to OKHLA TIMES that he was not picking up their phone as well. Many alumni are becoming increasing exasperated with the turn of events. They had not expected such a response from a highly-educated Khan. They are trying to figure out the reason for Khan’s weird response.
Dubai-based alumnus Zubair Irshad was deeply hurt with the development. He even unsubscribed from JMI Yahoo directory. A highly active member of the directory, he wrote on social-networking site Facebook: “Today I unsubscribed from JMI Yahoo directory, ending seven years relation as I feel it is being biased when it comes to issues of Alumni.” His post withdrew positive response from other alumni also. From reliable sources OKHLA TIMES has come to know that other alumni are also thinking of withdrawing from the JMI Yahoo directory if the issue is not resolved soon.
The debate rages on the FB and other forum. Will Khan come forward to clarify his stand?
