Jamia student Alamullah wins essay competition

The Jamia literary society is going to distribute awards to students who stood first in its essay competition held a few weeks ago on March 29. The essay competition in which students were asked to write on the impact of cinema on Indian society in Hindi, English and Urdu was a huge hit, according to a source.

Md Alamullah has won the first price. A Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) student Alamullah wrote the essay in Urdu. Other student to win the award includes Nadeem, who wrote the essay in Hindi.

The Jamia literary society that is part of central university Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will also hand over some cash to the winners. The essay competition held to encourage students to pen their thought on important issues is popular among university students. Some 1,800 students participated in the competition.

After getting the number one position, Alamullah said: “I am really happy. This is really an achievement for me.” A freelancer, Alamullah also writes for some national Urdu daily off and on.

Before cracking the MCRC entrance test, he was a first year student of MA history, JMI.

From a madarsa background, Alamullah is a hardworking and self-deprecating student and hails from Jharkhand.

After completing his MCRC degree, he wants to work for some of India’s leading national TV channels.

OKHLA TIMES was not able to contact other winners, including Nadeem.
