Jamia Mass Com director Prof Siddiqui to visit Toronto to sign MoU with York University

Mass Communication of Research Centre of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is going to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with York University based in Canada.

A group of three professors, including MCRC director Professor Obaid Siddiqui, is visiting Toronto from September 23 to 28 to finalize the deal with the university. Confirming this development to OKHLA TIMES, university media coordinator Simi Malhotra said: “The MOU is beneficial for both of us. And yes, the team is going to finalize the procedures.”

JMI’s MCRC is a known media university in India, producing many young journalists, who work in mainstream media. Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan studied at the centre.

The world’s leading university Columbia University of Journalism also expressed its interest in signing a MOU with JMI’s MCRC, according to a source. The MOU with York that had played a crucial role in the heydays of MCRC will be helpful for students of both the countries.

Before joining MCRC, Professor Siddiqui worked with BBC radio Urdu service in London in 1990s. Later on he worked for India’s leading news channel NDTV for several years. Also, he has been producing a programme Hamaray Masail for ETV Urdu channel since 2003.

His other works include producing three documentaries for Sahitya Academy on Shahayar.
