Internationally-famed Central University Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) celebrated the 65th Independence Day of India on August 15. The celebrations were held in the Jamia School campus which houses some of the oldest structures on the campus. The entire Jamia biradari congregated there and celebrated together despite the bad weather. The celebrations began at 9 AM with the arrival of the Chief Guest Professor S M Rashid, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, followed by the Flag Hoisting Ceremony and the National Anthem. Thereafter, the Chief Guest delivered his speech. Flag was hoisted in other parts of the locality also. Faraz Khan, president of the Youth Association, managed a flag hoisting event in Zakir Nagar Park in front of the State Bank of India (SBI) office.
