I did not provoke Jamia to file Rs 50 lakh suite against SahilOT, January 25, 2012 20:02 IST Kashif It is good to see your response. Firstly let me tell you I don't have any personal envy with Mr Sahil or from his any supporter. Secondly I am not married. Now coming back to the main topic, I think you have missed reading my statement where I specifically mention and praise Sahil for filing RTI's regarding Batla House (Sahil is frustrated and should give a written apology: Jamia alumnus). So all your argument like your kids being encountered or what happen to my family members if any of my relative faces the same situation..etc etc are utterly rubbish and does not hold any relevance and value here. I fully support him on his stand on Batla House encounter. The only point on which I objected and support Jamia's action was that why did he bring up Jamia's name in the talk show when he himself was not clear about whether the money was given or not or if given then under whose responsibility it was given what relationship does that person/organization had/has with Jamia. Let me tell him Jamia Old Boys' Association (JOBA) held its own election and has separate mode of functioning. It is not governed by Jamia administration neither or either of them has any influence on one another as far as administrative functions are concerned... keep that in your mind... before holding responsible Jamia University for JOBA's action or vice versa. My simple question to you and Sahil and also from his supporters is that, are you not aware of what media is capable of in tarnishing the image of any person/institution, and that too if the institution in which majority of them are Muslims? Do you think that media and communal politics would spare any opportunity to let things go as it is…If you do not understand the nature of politics here in India then I can’t help it? I only suggest you to contact any local politician and schedule some classes with him he will let you understand better.. And if you do not understand the power of media then please go and read about Arab uprising recently. After that even then if you and Mr Sahil do not understand this then I am sorry to say that there is no point debating with you on such a sensitive issue. Now, as per your suggestion of being humble and tolerant.. Let me tell you I did not have any hand in provoking Jamia administration to file a suite against Sahil. I support it because I think such an action would set an example for future generations that without complete know-how and clear facts and figures no one dare to raise finger against Jamia just to tarnish its image. In the interview to NDTV, Mr Sahil brought Jamia's name from nowhere. The encounter happened in Batla House which is a locality near Jamia. And the encounter did not happen inside the university campus. Jamia had nothing to do with the encounter and as an institution Jamia is not responsible for the action of its student outside the campus. Outside the campus they are Indian citizens more than student of Jamia only. The legal aid which VC Mushirul Hasan provided was on the basis of his own choice, because the media was damaging the image of the institute at that time, And Sahil again did the same thing on the talk show which media did at the time of encounter. Think from the perspective of the university, whatever happened at that time in Batla House was really sad but university has nothing to do with that. And why should the university face consequences of such thing for which it is not responsible for... Lastly I am very humble and tolerant you don't have to tell me.. and I know and I presume Sahil also know that he mistakenly brought Jamia's name. His intention was not to tarnish Jamia's image in any way. But actions have consequences. Due to that action Jamia filed a suite against him. Whatever Jamia did was right and Jamia being tolerant gave him a week for giving a written apology otherwise they would have directly sue him a fine of Rs 50 lakhs. Last but not the least…Regarding the performance.. Jamia is improving at a much faster rate. If you want any proof then go and search the top engineering colleges of India and you will find JMI engineering just below all the IITs. Secondly go and visit faculty website you will find the level of research going on in the university. So don't give me this crap about the level of education and standard of education in Jamia. It was really bad a decade ago.. But now it is improving fast.
