Debate on communalism and future of minoritiesOT, March 12, 2012 19:45 IST Okhla Times Campus Reporter/JMI At a time when minorities are trying to assert themselves and demand quota, Dr. K.R. Narayanan Centre for Dalit and Minorities Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, is planning to organize a two-day national seminar on “Changing Forms of Communalism and Future of Minorities in India” on March 13-14, 2012. The session will be held in Mir Anis Hall, Jamia Millia Islamia. The speakers in the inaugural session include Dileep Padgoankar, Senior Editor and former member of National Commission for Minorities, New Delhi , Prateep Lahiri, author of Decoding Intolerance , Prof. Faizan Mustafa, Vice-Chancellor of National Law University and and Mukul Kesavan, faculty member of Department of History, Jamia Millia Islamia. Najeeb Jung, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia will chair the Inaugural Session. Other topics on which speakers will speak on include: State, Civil Society and Communalism, State, Political Parties, Communalism, History, State and Communalism, State, Minorities and Communalism and Media and Communalism, according to media coordinator. The speakers are Harsh Mander, Asghar Ali Engineer, E Fatima, Suhas Palshikar, Prof. Monirul Hasan, D Santosh, Ashraf Azees, Nonica Datta, Badri Narayan, Hitendra Patel, Rajeev Bhargava, Rowena Robinson, Mujeebur Rehman, Madhu Trehan, Seema Mustafa, Shazia Ilmi. The valedictory session will commence at 4.30 PM on March 14, 2012, in which Wajahat Habibullah, Chairperson, National Commission for Minorities, Government of India shall be the Chief Guest.
