Annual technical-cultural fest a huge hit at Jamia Millia

The tenth edition of the most-talked about Encomium showcased on January 29 in the Auditorium of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia, was a huge hit. The unique annual technical-cultural festival of the institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers, IEEE JMI attracted students, alumni and participants from all over the country. This year too students gave a rapturous welcome to participants and chief guests when the ceremony unfolded on January 29 at 11.00 AM. Rahul Chauhan, coordinator of the event told OKHLA TIMES: “It was really good. We had the largest footfalls in many years.”

Tarun Malik of the Microsoft Corporation was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Besides, Prof. S.M. Rashid, Pro Vice-Chancellor, JMI presided over the function. The two-day festival that ends on January 30 had many interesting educational events. On the first day participants took part in the Rationale: The Technical Paper Presentation Contest. Many other competitions were carried out throughout the day. Some 200 participants came from Delhi University. “The whole show was fantastic. Some 14 teams came from outside JMI to participate in this event,” said Utkarsh, an engineering student, who also played an important role in managing the event.

The last day of the show that is January 30 provides an opportunity for JMI student to interact with their seniors. Many students have been waiting for this IEEE Alumni meet. “The event is expected to attract seniors from leading positions in their fields. This will no doubt open opportunities of mentoring and internships for JMI students,” said a JMI press release.
