The Mumbai chapter of Jamia Alumni Association is organizing a get together of all Jamiaites living in Mumbai at Grace Plaza near Jogeshwari Station, S.V Road, Mumbai, on February 13 at 4 P.M. More than 150 Jamia alumni are expected to attend this event, according to Irfan Zamindar, who has played an important role in reviving the defunct Mumbai chapter. Based in Mumbai, he told OKHLA TIMES: “All preparations have been completed for the event.”

He pointed out that this was the first gathering of Jamia alumni after its revival. “One of our well wishers Sikander Qureshi is providing us space free of cost,” he said. It is understood that in the meeting the alumni will discuss many important things. Alumni will also discuss ways how to encourage more Jamiaites to join the revived Mumbai Alumni Association. “We are aiming at adding some 250 alumni in six months”, said Zamindar. Alumni will also lay out plans to zero in on Jamiaites based in Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad and other places.

Besides, the charter of JOBA will also be adopted. Zamindar said: “I am very positive with the response.” When the information about the get together was posted on social-networking website Facebook many Jamia alumni welcomed it. President of Riyadh chapter of Jamia Alumni Association Murshid Kamal wrote: “All the best.” Dubai-based Zubair Irshad wrote: “Brave initiative. Keep doing good work I am with you in your mission to revive alumni association.”

JOBA president Javed Alam also praised Zamidar for his initiative. He wrote: “Congratulation for organizing Jamiaites get together in Mumbai. My cooperation is always there with you.” New Delhi-based alumnus Ali Arshad also praised Zamindar.
