After Reliance announced three-month free data with new JIO SIM card many people rushed to lay their hands on it. In OKhla too several residents brought JIO SIM in hope to use it for free and were delighted. However, their elation was short-lived due to the connection problem.
A housewife in Jamia Nagar said she has been unable to talk with friends and relatives because of network problem. “A day ago, I went to NFC Community Centre and spoke to a guy who was owner of JIO kiosk. I told him about the network issue in AFE. To which he said the issue was being faced by residents of Batla House and Ashram Chowk. He told me that the company plans to address the problem soon by putting tower in the locality. Also, he said that as it was trial period the issue is expected to be sorted out within months,” said Rozy, a stay-at-home mother of two.
Since the launch of JIO, it has been a hot cake in the locality. The biggest attraction for residents has been the facility to use data for free for a certain period may be lasting this year. It would be interesting to see how many retain the JIO SIM after the free data facility expires.
