Jamia Teachers Association protest against UGC workload order. Jamia Teachers’ Association has been actively involved in solidarity with the Teachers’ Movement across India. On June 10, JTA participated in a protest march along with fellow teachers association to express the dissent against discriminatory UGC regulations.

The protest march started from Mandi House and was spearheaded by Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) as well as JTA, along with other concerned stakeholders and student unions.

The protest march was in conjunction to insist UGC to completely withdraw anti-teacher, draconian regulations and notifications particularly of May 4.

The march had around three thousand university and college teachers holding placards, banners, and wearing black bands on their heads. The teachers were shouting slogans for the restoration of the dignity of the teachers, reversal of Academic Performance Indicator (API) schemes and other anti-teachers policies of the UGC are amongst other issues. The protest ended with the court-arrest of teachers at MHRD, said SM Mahmood, Secretary JTA.
