Jamia to honour 2 cricketers Pataudi, Sehwag: Jamia will be naming the University Sports Complex as Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi Sports Complex. Sharmila Tagore, wife of Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi shall unveil the plaque on May 14 at 4.00 PM at University Sports Complex, JMI.
On this occasion, Sharmila Tagore shall also inaugurate a pavilion named as Virender Sehwag Pavilion in the Sports Complex in the presence of Virender Sehwag, former Indian Cricketer and an alumnus of Jamia.
The programme shall be attended by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI, Deans of Faculties, Heads of the Departments, Directors of the Centres, Heads of Schools and Offices, staff and students.
Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was appointed Captain of the Indian Cricket Team at the age of 21. He was the Wisden Cricketer of the year in 1968. He played for India between 1961 and 1975. He made his Test debut playing against England in Delhi in December 1961.
Virender Sehwag is a former Indian Cricketer. An aggressive right handed opening batsman and a part-time right arm off-spin bowler, he played his first One Day International in 1999 and joined the Indian Test Team in 2001. He attended Jamia Millia Islamia for graduation.
