Jamia students to protest against fee hike on Monday; VC says no fee hike

Some students of Jamia Millia Islamia have decided to hold protest on the campus on Monday against the alleged fee hike.

AISA member wrote: “An appeal to the student community of Jamia and all the other students organisations active within the campus to resist this deliberate trend of “fee hike” of courses offered by the university, apparent since last few years, which continue to hold back students coming from the marginalised sections of society to pursuit their higher education in public funded institutions. Join in large number!! February 6, 10:30 am near Central Canteen.”

Jamia Vice Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad said there has been no fee hike.

However, protesting students shared the info allegedly showing that fee has been hiked. The portal was unable to verify the authenticity independently.

A senior university official said last year too fee was hiked but was rolled back after students hold protest.

The groups said an average of 400 rupees in almost all courses.
