Justice was done after a man accused of allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Jamia Nagar was in police net.
According to officials, the man who has been absconding for the last one month after committing the crime was arrested on Monday when he landed in the area.
After a tip-off about his arrival in the locality, police swung into action and nabbed him.
The accused is related to the girl’s family and had been staying with them, reported PTI. It is understood that the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the girl when the victim’s parents were not in Delhi. Moreover, after allegedly committing the act the man used to threaten her of dire consequences if she ever told anyone about the incident.
The scarred girl only shared her ordeal with her parents when in June the accused had gone to West Bengal to visit his family. After which the parents informed police which formed a team to nab the accused. It is another story that he made his way and police struggled to arrest him despite conducting several raids in West Bengal.
Besides, cases of eve-teasing, stalking and sexual violence against school girls in the locality have left respectable residents deeply worried. Some residents, including activists met with the top police official in the locality on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum, seeking action against eve-teasers who are found stalking school students outside schools and in market places.
