Jamia organises cycle rally to push Modi’s digital India

A 90-kilometre cycle rally on 14th& 15th February 2017 was organised by Jamia Millia Islamia’s National Service Scheme from university campus to Haryana’s Dhauj for making awareness on ‘Digital India’ & ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign among the masses, targeting the ones in the rural population, reports Shubham Pandey.

In this rally, total 33 people participated in which 22 NSS volunteers, both male and female along with Jamia NSS Programme Coordinator, Prof NU Khan who led the cycle rally and Programme Officer & Rally Coordinator, Dr Abid Husain and other 10 members of Jamia Teaching and Non-Teaching staff.

The rally was flagged off by Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Prof Talat Ahmed from the VC office on Tuesday, 14th February in the morning at half past nine in which students from Jamia School also took part in the flag off ceremony to support the cycling team for its cause.

The rally had scheduled stops in Manav Rachna International University, National Institute of Financial Management, Shiksha Public School, Government Secondary School where the Commissioner of Police of Faridabad District met the members of the rally warmly welcomed by the Lady Sarpanch of the Pakhal Village, Pine Woods International School where the Assistant Commissioner of Police flagged off the rally for Delhi after a night stay.

The members of the rally interacted with the village people for generating awareness by telling advantages of India’s Digital functioning and the importance of girl child and their education by demonstrations, adventure activities and nukkad nataks.
