Jamia Millia faculty member bereaved

Jamia Millia Islamia Assistant Professor in CIRBS Dr. Syed Naqui Kazim’s mother Bibi Aziz Zahra Bano died on Saturday morning. She was around 70.

She had been suffering from Alzheimer’s for the last three years.

She is survived by four sons. Her second son is a cleric, third son teaches History at Aligarh Muslim University and fourth son is a journalist. Her last rites were performed in her hometown Muzaffarpur on Sunday, according to family’s friends.

Her husband was a surgeon in SKMCH in Muzaffarpur.

Syed Hassan Kazim wrote on his timeline: “On a very long journey by road while taking our Ammi to our home place Muzaffarpur. Since last two and a half years she had been living with us in Delhi but she always used to talk about Muzaffarpur and her ancestral village “khemaipatti”, her childhood memories. A patient of advanced Alzheimer who used to confuse the my name with my brothers and vice versa she had lost 90 percent of her memory, but last night when I complained of some pain in my shoulder she asked in her usual low tone to my wife whether I was ok? She was a brave lady, didn’t go to any school ever but always kept us asking to study more and more. After my late father’s death in 1997 she stood like a rock behind we brothers and its because of her only that we could become what we are today. She passed away early morning today while she was sleeping. I will never forget her smiling face and closed eyes.”
