It was on February 21, 2017 when the results of civil services written examinations held last December was announced. And the good news was that 43 aspirants coached by Jamia Millia Islamia’s Residential Coaching Academy (RCA) qualified the written examination.
Now, the RCA is coaching them for interview.
It was a historic moment for the university, but no press release was issued by Jamia’s allegedly “overstaffed” media cell headed by internationally acclaimed media thinker Dr Iftekhar Ahmed, who is also director of AJK Mass Communication Research Centre.
It was only on March 8 when a release was issued and posted on its social media platform without photo of the iconic RCA.
This only raises a question: What ails Jamia’s media cell headed by MCRC director Dr Iftekhar? Dr Iftekhar is supposedly known to be close to Vice Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad, who also is globally known geologist.
According to insiders, Dr Iftekhar belongs to a city in Bihar whose many people are supposedly the new “rulers” of Jamia holding great influence in the new administration, a claim that OT.COM was unable to independently verify.
OT.COM has come to know that unlike the past when there used to be one media coordinator, like Dr Mukesh Ranjan and Dr Simi Malhotra, this time around there are many people to assist Dr Iftekhar.
Dr Saima Saeed, former-PTI staff one Shakeel, and two others for Hindi and Urdu, along with, two other employees, are part of the media cell and despite the allegedly overstaffed team, the media cell has been allegedly found struggling in meeting the deadline.
If the highly-accomplished writers Dr Mukesh Ranjan and Dr Simi Malhotra used to run the show on their own and write impeccable releases in English making sure that university’s milestone events are covered well with photos also, then the million dollar question is: What ails the new media cell team headed by Dr Iftekhar?
