Why are Jamia girl students protesting in hostel?

The buzz online is that some girl students have started a protest a few minutes ago in the university old hostel located nearby Tikona Park. Jamia student leader Meeran Haider wrote this on his timeline: “#जौहर_सलाम। मेरी बहनो, लड़ाई लड़ो अपने हक़ की। पीछे नही हटना है। हमलोग साथ है।”

A page being run by Restore Students Union – JMI shared a few photos and videos too and wrote: “”Hats off and salute to the brave #girls of JMI university hostel students for raising their voices against the hostel fee hike and other hostel issues.”

OT.COM spoke with the university authority to get their version.

“There was a talk of some kind of small fee hike. The matter has been sorted out and the students too have agreed. There will be no changes in the fee structure,” said Professor Saima Saeed.

A hosteller student said the protest is going on and we had a meeting with the Provost who has agreed to our demand. Till the filing of the report at 10:05 PM the protest was going on, said a girl student from the hostel.
