Jamia entrance exam rush slows down Okhla’s traffic

Traffic in Jamia Nagar was severely disrupted today as large number of entrance exam aspirants turned up in large number at Jamia Millia Islamia. The traffic slowed down in the morning and evening hours since the exams have begun on the campus with the road being chock-o-block, claimed commuters, adding that it has become hard to commute on the road passing through Jamia.

A commuter, who took an e-rickshaw from Tikona Park to Julaina, said the usual fifteen minutes journey was covered in 45 minutes with people sweating in the heat. She said it was thank to the weather that travelling was not difficult.

The traffic jam that usually starts at Jamia goes up to the Engineering College with traffic jam tailing back to Batla House at times to Tikona Park to Okhla Head with the whole area coming to a standstill. For many residents traffic jam is not something new in the locality as it has become a normal thing with travelling in peak time a bit hard.

Students, parents and even locals were seen stuck in the jam for long hours. Moreover, a resident said the digging of the road by government agency at Jamia bus stop further creates Jam with the road being narrowed. Also, wrong side driving by some adds to the worry.
