Jamia organises Blood Donation Camp for the needy patients

Jamia organises Blood Donation Camp for the needy patients. The Department of Public Health Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS), JMI and Rotary Club of Indraprastha- Okhla organized a Blood Donation Camp on the campus today on the occasion of ‘World Hepatitis Day’.

blood camp heldProfessor Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the camp and lauded the effort of students and faculty for this noble gesture. Prof. Talat Ahmad appreciated the role of voluntary blood donation and its role in making available uninfected and healthy blood to the needy patients. Hepatitis “B” is very common infection which spreads through transmission of blood and blood products and, therefore, it was appropriate to hold this camp on “World Hepatitis Day”, he said.

About 150 volunteers participated in the event and around 100 units of blood were collected by the end of the day. The donors were appreciated with souvenirs and donor card and were served refreshments. Students of the faculty played an active role in making the event successful.

The Blood Donation Camp was organized under the able leadership of Prof. Saranjit Singh Bhasin, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, JMI and faculty members.
