Giving back to alma mater: Jamia alumni Pervez and his friends set example

Usually after passing out from alma mater, most people forget and get involved in their career and life that they rarely get time to look back or give back to the institution that shaped them. However, there are some cases in which alumni give back to their alma mater.

The case in point is the story of Pervez Akram Siddiqui, 1999 BTech pass out from Jamia and a few of his friend who took the pain to travel from UAE to Jamia Millia Islamia this week so that they could give back something to university. In a short meeting with Vice Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad at his office on the university campus, Pervez, Md Shibli Siddiqui, Arshad Siddiqui and Imtiaz Ahmed Ansari handed over Rs 4 lakh scholarship cheque to the V-C in presence of Jamia OSD Dr Sharif Ahmad, Registrar Prof Shahid Ashraf, FO Mr Sanjay Kumar, G-JAN chairman Prof Moshahid Alam Rizvi as mentioned in the university FB page.

“This is just a token amount. Many of our colleagues back in UAE want to contribute more to Global Jamia Alumni Network (G-JAN), an initiative of V-C Prof Ahmad,” said Pervez, one of the contributors.

V-C Prof Ahmad thanked the alumni for the move, mentioned the page with a photo of the event.

The contributors are Jamia alumni Pervez Akram Siddiqui, Imtiyaz Ahmad Ansari, Riyaz Ahmad Khan, Jalal Ahmad, Shah Shams Alam, Rizwan Wadood, Eqbal Ahmad and Muslim Ghayyur.
