Some Jamia Millia Islamia students, who hold a protest on Monday morning against alleged fee hike, have called off their strike claiming that the administration has accepted all their demands and the fee will remain same as last year.
A Jamia official said genuine demand of students has been accepted.
While speaking to OKHLATIMES.COM on Sunday, Vice Chancellor Professor Talat Ahmad had said there is no fee hike.
It was in the morning when some students turned up at the main campus canteen to raise their voices against the alleged fee hike. “No person from the administration has yet come to talk to students. So students have now decided to go on indefinite hunger strike. Six students are going to sit on hunger strike,” a student, who was part of this agitation, said.
This is not first incident on the campus when the administration has bowed to protesters pressure. A source said last year too when fee hike was planned some students started protest and the university was forced to roll it back.
A source on the condition of anonymity said a few months ago some students of Dental department had launched a protest on the campus. The protest called off after the administration accepted their demands, alleged a source.
