Jamaat-e-Islami (Hind) has decided to back Monis Ahmed, a Welfare Party of India candidate from 102 S Abul Fazal Enclave being backed by Ittehad Front an alliance of nine Muslim political parties.
Monis is candidate of Welfare Party of India that is a political wing of religious organization JIH that is headquartered in Okhla. Many political observers have termed Monis as a dark horse in the locality who has the potential to upset apple cart of many.
Though it is too early to jump to any conclusion, the fact of the matter is that during his political debut a term ago, Monis had contested as an independent getting good number of votes leaving many political pundits stumped.
A resident from Azamgarh, Monis is a contractor and has build several buildings of Jamaat.
He is known to running is campaign differently by concentrating more on building rapport with voters by going around in the locality like other candidates are doing.
He said when he was post bearer of RWA of Shaheen Bagh a few years ago he was instrumental in getting many basic amenities.
Besides, with Jamaat having its dedicated cadre chances are high that many may back him so that the issue of garbage dumping in front of Jamaat building is address that earlier was promised by others but left untouched.
