Moonis Ahmed is Jamaat-e-Islami (Hind)-backed Welfare Party of India candidate from Okhla’s ward number 102 S Abul Fazal Enclave.
Also, he is the consensus candidate of Ittehad Front an alliance of nine Muslim political parties who have come together so as not to divide Muslim votes in this MCD elections 2017 to be held on April 23.
To woo voters, Moonis is holding public meeting and meeting residents. A resident of Shaheen Bagh, Moonis is not a first timer in politics as a few years ago he had contested as an independent candidate to come second. Originally from Azamghar, Moonis said during his tenure as an office bearer of Shaheen Bagh Residents’ Welfare Association (RWAs) he worked tirelessly for the development of the locality. Many political observers said he could spring a surprise as he is an old player in Okhla politics.
About two-dozen candidates are in the fray for the MCD poll from the Muslim-dominated locality.
