The curtain on cricket world’s biggest bonanza has been raised. On April 3, Indian cricket buffs were entertained by battery of movie starts including Katy Perry, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Big B and others. After the starters, the main menu begins today when two time IPL T20 champion Chennai under the captainship of MS Dhoni meets Mumbai at MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Once again India’s two great batters, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar will fight for a win. It is too early to say which team will sail through but after Sachin withdrawing from Mumbai’s captainship, feisty Harbhajan Singh has an opportunity to prove a point or two. The match is going to be a real treat to watch.

More than the match, the cricket world is talking about TRPs and fans footfall this time around. Last year, IPL 2011 season 4 was held after India had won the One Day World Cup and it had failed to attract cricket buffs attention. Many theories had surfaced for the lack of interest shown by fans in IPL that time. The main reason was too many cricket matches had led to fatigue among fans.

It is expected that this time around nothing like this happens.

The organizers are looking forward a blockbuster IPL. Today’s opening match will be the test to gauge fans mood all over India. A huge turn up in the first match will only be good for the IPL T20 promotion in the country.

Al l told, for some youngsters, including Ashwin, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, A Nehra and others, it is an opportunity to make their presence felt once again.

Foreign players too will try to raise the bar of the game by giving stellar performance. All eyes will be on Chris Gayle, SE Marsh, Hussey, ML Hyden, Watson and others.
