Honesty is still alive in robbery-prone Okhla; this photo taken during Friday prayer today is the proof.
Honesty is still alive in Okhla from where reports do surface from time to time about robberies. Despite this fact, a large number of residents are honest. The case in point is of shopkeeper Salman in Abul Fazal Enclave.
Every Friday and even during normal days during prayer time, he goes to local mosques leaving his vegetable shop open something that makes many residents stumped as they lamented to increase in theft, robbery and snatching cases in the locality in the last few years.
When asked don’t feel worried that somebody will steal your vegetables during prayer time, he said: “Till now nothing has happened. And what will they steal: some vegetables.”
He carries the money with him. Residents complain that it is just a small number of youths who had made things difficult for residents by getting involving in all types of vice. There have been reports of how some houses in the locality were targeted during Friday prayer when most of the men go to mosques. Moreover, reports had also surfaced of some wayward youths targeting a local mosque in AFE by stealing tap heads and other items.
