Tax driver returns bag with valuables worth Rs 8 lakh.
After getting down at the domestic airport, Mubisher Wani took a black-yellow taxi. He got down at Paharganj area last evening but forgot to carry with him his bag containing valuables and cash worth Rs 8 lakh.
But he was lucky as 24-year-old taxi driver Debendra Kapri after finding the bag took it to the domestic airport police station and deposited it.
Following which police checked it and found a number on which it made a call and it was found to be of Wani’s brother. Police said he was informed about the incident and Wani turned up at the police station to claim the bag.
DCP (Airport) Sanjay Bhatia said the bag had items like gold jewellery, laptop, i-Phone, camera and US currency worth Rs eight lakh and other important documents like his passport and visa papers.
The officer said, the passenger who had to appear for an interview at the US embassy for his visa this morning, had only good words for the taxi driver’s honesty.
Police have recommended that the driver be given a cash reward for his honesty, reported PTI.
