Death of Abdul due to electrocution and impending danger of high tension wire in OKhla

The death of a 22-year-old man identified as Abdul in other parts of Delhi a few days ago after accidentally coming in contact with a high tension wire in Najafgarh’s Nangli Sakravati Area has sparked a debate in Okhla among a few about the impeding danger from high tension wire under which thousands of people reside.

According to dailies report, Abudl, who hailed from Gorakpur, has been working as a labourer in an under construction buildings. The incident that happened around 2:30 pm left residents stumped.

The impact of the accident was such that his body could not be retrieved easily. He was caring the wire fixation work and it was during the time when he was on the terrace that he accidentally came on contact with the high tension wire hanging precariously above him.

In Okhla too, several people are residing illegally under high tension wire and the locality has witnessed several accidents in which a few people have even died after coming in contact with high tension wire. Residents still remember how years ago a worker had died after being electrocuted by high tension wires.

Moreover, several residents under the high tension wire had been issued notices too. There was buzz in the area that with the construction of metro in Okhla, the high tension wire poles would be moved on the Yamuna bank but till now nothing like this has happened.
