Hospitals in Okhla full with dengue patients

Some five hospitals in the Jamia Nagar area are full with dengue patients. Since the outbreak of this life-threatening disease in the locality, many patients are getting treatment in Holy Family, Bansal Hospital, Ansari Health Center, Sujan Mahender Hospital and Jeevan Nursing Home.

All these hospitals are overcrowded. Situation in the locality is getting from bad to worse with many hospitals, including Holy Family, not admitting suspected dengue patients as all their beds are full.

In the last week, some 595 suspected dengue patients visited these five hospitals, claim health officials. Out of the hospitalized, 205 people have been diagnosed of suffering from dengue. The conditions of some 12 patients are reportedly serious.

At the moment some 12 dengue patients are getting treatment at Holy Family’s ICU. Besides 32 dengue patients are in Jeevan Nursing Home, 18 in Jamia Health Center, 12 in Bansal Hospital and 8 in Sujan Mahinder hospital.

The locals are extremely upset with their political representatives. Councillor Mohammad Jamaluddin and MLA, Asif Mohammad Khan, have come under scathing attack.

A local said: “Had the leaders mounted pressure on the MCD to act the situation would have not come to such a pass.”

Municipal Corporation of Delhi, on the other hand has declared 297 dengue cases till now in Delhi. It has also accepted that a large of this figure, have been reported from Jamia Nagar.

However, the situation has improved now.
