B.S. Abdur Rahman University in collaboration with Purdue University, USA, and Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai is organizing an international workshop on “Electro-Chemo-Therapy for Effective Cancer Treatment” on July 27 and 28, 2011. Experts from six countries are participating in this event, claimed university officials. The workshop highlights alternative therapy for cancer treatment. BSARU, established twenty seven years ago in Chennai is known all over India for its quality education. Director admissions and campus development V N A Jalal said: “With world class infrastructure our curriculum and syllabi are on par with international standards.”

The university that boasts of over 95 per cent placement has also MoU with Ford, Infosys, Wipro, CIPET, ETA Ascon and others. All its UG/PG courses are accredited by NBA. Other than providing quality education, the university also provides merit scholarship/free seat to students with a score of 95 per cent (MPC).

The university is founded by Dr. B.S. Abdur Rahman, an industrialist, educationist and philanthropist. Born in Kilakarai at Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu, on October 15, 1927 to Buhari Aalim and Yousuf Zulaikha, he has worked tirelessly for the spread of education and the uplift of downtrodden and marginalized sections of society.

Even as he was busy jetting around the globe expanding his business, philanthropist, Rahman never forgot his social responsibilities. He set up a number of charitable organizations and educational institutions: Seethakathi Trust (1967), All India Islamic Foundation (1979), United Economic Forum (1979) and B.S. Abdur Rahman Zakaat Fund Foundation (2007).

Apart from financial assistance to the needy, he established hospitals, orphanages and 14 educational institutions in Tamil Nadu.  In a short period of time the B.S. Abdur Rahman University (formerly B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Engineering College has established itself as a hub for quality education.
