Blood donation saves baby Zahira's lifeOT, June 16, 2011 IST Okhla Times Reporter/Okhla Blood donation by a Okhla resident saved the life of a 10-year-old Zahira, hospitalised in Holy Family hospital. It was on May 14 when doctors attending on Zahira asked her parents to arrange blood for their daughter who was suffering from liver ailment, claimed Shanay Haidar, a Batla House resident. He told OKHLA TIMES: "The doctors operating on Zahira asked us to arrange O negative blood as soon as possible." Haidar said initially Zahira's father Abbas got worried and panicked. But we got the right person and our problem was solved, he claimed. Haidar, who is a close friend of Abbas, said once the blood was arranged doctors got down to their work: Operate Zahira. After she complained of pain in stomach, she was rushed to the nearby Holy Family hospital where doctors after tests found out the reason for the pain, according to a close friend of the family, who is praying for the quick recovery of the girl. Haidar said: "There was a minor damage. The doctors successfully managed to remove the puss." Zahira, who is recuperating in the hospital, will be released after a week treatment, said Haider. Abul Fazal Enclave-based Abbas is pleased to see the condition of her daughter improving.
