Gorakhpur hospital tragedy: Prayers, candlelight vigil in Okhla, Jamia Millia Islamia.

Condolences and prayers were held in Jamia Millia Islamia and Okhla for the families who lost their children in a tragic hospital incident of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Some Jamia students took out a candle march.

In Okhla, a students’ body issued this statement.

President SIO of India Nahas Mala said children death reflects the selfish nature of hospital administration who were busy in petty issues and undermined basic care and facilities.

Nahas said instead of checking Muslims patriotism, CM Yogi should answer for the loss of life of innocent children and also demanded a fair enquiry into the matter and asked the UP Government to book perpetrator.

“It’s time to introspect and question overall healthcare in India, he said.

According to NDTV report, Baba Raghav Das Medical College, where 63 children have died in five days, is the biggest hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s home turf.

Following the surfacing of the report, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said: “I am pained beyond words.”

Rahul Gandhi tweeted: “Deeply pained. My thoughts are with the families of the victims. BJP government is responsible and should punish the negligent who caused this tragedy.”
