Eid-al Adha 2017 is just a few days away and Okhla residents will be going out to buy goats. Like last year this year too they would be flocking Dhobi Ghat goat market, which is the most popular place for finding goats.
A resident, who visited the goat market today, said the situation is very bad with mosquito breeding because of the dirty conditions in and around the area.
“I visited the market today to do window shopping. I noticed a lot of mosquitoes and the area is dirty. Some goat owners, who have come from far places, too complained about the dirty condition. The area is breeding ground for mosquitoes. And at a time when many residents are down with high fever and reports are surfacing of vector-borne diseases, I really fear for the residents. Anybody can be bitten by mosquito and carry the disease back home,” said the resident requesting not to be named.
Also, he said some goat owners are down with fever, a claim that OT.COM was unable to verify independently.
It is understood that previous year the area was cleaned but with nothing like this happening this year when mosquito breeding is being talked about some residents fear that chances of one being bitten by mosquito is high.
Residents said people should take a few precautions before visiting the goat market like applying odomas to keep mosquitoes away, staying safe from the bite.
