Ghafffar Manzil woman resident left high and dry on Okhla road a few days ago. In a complaint to the authorities, she wrote: “On April 5 I was going to my house in Ghaffar Manzil around 1 pm by e-rickshaw. I had kept my bag on my side. A white scooty came from behind. Two boys were on it. They came from behind and snatched my bag and fled.”
Shaista Rehman wrote: “I was unable to note down the number of the scooty. My ID card, mobile number and bunch of keys, including my house keys, were in it. Please take action against the unknown thieves. The incident happened nearby the garbage dump in Ghaffar Manzil. I am a social work at Jamia middle school.”
Incidents of snatching by youths on bike have increased. In the past few months, several complaints have been lodged with the local authorities. It was a few weeks ago when a family that had come from Mumbai for a marriage ceremony had become victim of a snatchers in Abul Fazal Enclave near Ret Ka Teela.
Incidents of robberies too have increased in the locality, lamented residents.
Months ago reports had surfaced about how several shops were burgled in one night in Jamia Nagar.
