Ghaffar Manzil woman lives in constant fear after Wednesday daylight incident in Okhla

Another incident of snatching has left an elderly woman, a resident of Ghaffar Manzil mentally disturbed as she fears that if she steps out of her house the incident might take place again. Following the incident on the road near Bhopal Ground on Wednesday at 4 pm, according to Mansoor, victim’s son, the woman is now in fear to go out of her house.

We counselled her the whole night that she should not get disturbed, said Mansoor, who lives in Ghaffar Manzil.

Talking about the incident, he said: “The incident happened near Bhopal Ground main road (Gate no.:-1 opposite side main road). My mother and Bhabi were coming from Holy family hospital Sarai Julena on a rickshaw when 2 bike-borne youths snatched our handbag carrying Rs 4,000, 2 ATM cards, a small black handbag and a booklet. The victims and the rickshaw puller tried to notice the bike but failed to do so as the youth was driving in a zig zag manner and the vehicle plate was covered with a white paper. Hence they were unable to note down the number.”

A complaint has been filed and later on police official discussed the case, said Mansoor, adding that police patrolling should be increased in the locality so that such incidents don’t take place and residents feel safe while travelling on the road.

As my mother was holding the bag tightly she also got her hand hurt during the snatching incident, said Mansoor.

Residents lamented that such snatching incidents have increased in the locality with several victims coming forward to file complaints.
