Okhla residents beware, think twice before opening your gate to unknown people as not very far from the locality a gang of thieves, who indulged in committing theft in flats, PGs posing as deaf and dumb, has been busted. Two people have been arrested and two stolen laptops and one I-Phone recovered from their possession with police claiming to have solved four cases of theft.
The police team of PS Neb Sarai has arrested two thieves namely Anil and V Babu, both residents of Andhra Pradesh.
Police swung into action after it was informed about 4/5 incidents of theft in PG Houses and flats in the last one month in PS Neb Sarai.
To crack the case, police said they worked hard and visited places of occurrence and found after interacting with residents that two boys belonging to South India had visited the flats, posing as deaf and dumb and were demanding money by showing medical certificate of their disability, pamphlet to create awareness about hearing diseases as well as list of donors who donated them money.
“As soon as the victim went inside the house to take money, they picked up the mobile phone, laptop, etc. from the room and escaped from the spot,” said police.
After getting a tip-off one day, police succeeded in arresting the two accuse.
During interrogation, both the accused persons confessed to have committed the crime, said police, adding that they have been taken on two-day police remand.
