The virtual world is a dangerous place at times. But with the penetration of internet, youths are going online in large number and even making friends with known and unknown people, imperiling their lives. The case in point is an incident that took place a few days ago far from Okha but in Delhi.
It all started with a chat on the social media with a stranger girl. Over a short period of time the two exchanged numbers and decided to meet. What happened after that will certainly make you sit and think about making friends with strangers on the social media.
It is another story that after the complaint being filed, police were successful in cracking the case and arrested six people and recovered from them Rs 3 lakh, along with one gold bracelet and a driving licence.
According to police, the incident unfolded like this, on May 3, a complainant was filed at Police Station Geeta Colony. The complainant stated that he came in contact with a girl through Facebook.
“During the chatting on Facebook, she gave her mobile number and offered for chatting on WhatsApp. They planned for having lunch at ‘Cross River Mall’. When he reached there then she called him and asked to come at Chawla Chicken Corner, Geeta Colony. He reached at Chawla Chicken Corner in his car then 8/10 person suddenly came and started to beat him. They took him to a room situated at Laxmi Nagar area and robbed his chain, bracelet, ring and driving license. After that, they demanded Rs 25 lakh as extortion money. On which, they again manhandled him. After that, he arranged Rs 1.5 lakh through his employee,” said police official based on the complaint.
Following which an FIR was registered and police got down to crack the case and succeeded in doing so by arresting the five accused.
Further investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to ascertain their involvements in other cases and to recover more case property, said the official.
