Former MP’s house in Okhla burgled

Cases of burgling in Jamia Nagar are being reported at regular interval. In the latest burgling incident in the locality, former Member of Parliament’s house in Okhla has been burgled. According to complaint, mobiles and busts were stolen from the house of Pervez Hashmi, former MLA of Okhla and ex-Congress Rajya Sabha MP. The incident had taken place in the first week of the month.

In a written report, Faisal Hashmi wrote: “My 2 helpers were sleeping inside the office. When one worker got up at night to go to the loo, he saw that a mobile kept on the chair was missing. He informed his other colleague and both of them went out of the room. It was during this time that they saw that locks of the main gate of the house were broken. Besides, two busts of Subhas Chandra Bose and Shivaji were also stolen.”

This is not first incident in the locality with residents lamenting that several cases robberies have taken place. Moreover, there are also reports in the past of mosques being targeted. Months ago posters were put in Okhla where residents were asked to identify a man who was alleged known to have been stealing items from mosques in Johri Farm. The committee members had singled him with the help of CCTV. Later on police arrested the local man.
