The report of a Tehelka journalist Asad Ashraf, who is resident of Okhla, published in several online portals of his vilification by Times Now Anchor Arnab Goswami on his Newshour show, during a debate on Batla House encounter on 23 May as reported by Tehelka.com has been a top trend on Facebook since Thursday.
Reacting on the development, Abdul Wasey, the associate editor of Tehelka magazine and resident of Abul Fazal Enclave, said: “This is sad. How rude it is on part of the ‘so-called leading journalist’ Arnab Goswami to call Asad and people like him ‘cover for Indian Mujahideen’. I know Asad for quite some time. He is a very impartial and professional journalist. He bases his reports on facts. Arnab must apologise for his irresponsible remark and start behaving in future. He also needs to improve his tone, especially when he is on air. Is this the way the self-appointed voice of India should address his guest? Shame!”
Asad Ashraf, who is also an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia, has been raising the issue on social media from the day he was ‘vilified’. Asad Ashraf wrote in jantakareporter.com: “Arnab did not show the slightest of hesitation in calling me a cover for Indian Mujahedeen, just because I could muster courage to point out the loopholes in the Batla House encounter.”
