After being in power for more than one year, the AAP Government opened its first Mohalla Clinic in Okhla, a deprive locality that continues to be neglected. It should be noted that even during the 15 years’ of Congress rule when Delhi had developed by leap and bonds it was Okhla and other seven minority constituencies in the national Capital that was neglected, even deprived of basic amenities.
While updating about the development on his social media page, Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan wrote: “आज जोगा बाई एक्सटेंशन मस्जिद नूह के बराबर में ओखला मैं पहली मोहल्ला क्लिनिक का आग़ाज़ हुआ इसमे 200 से ज़्यादा टेस्ट बिलकुल फ्री होंगे और ये सुबह 9 से 1 खुलेगी दूसरी मोहल्ला क्लिनिक इंशाल्लाह मंगल को s ब्लाक बटला हाउस में खोली जायेगी.”
Also he shared a few photos of the event. It is not known how good the service is.
While presenting the Budget in the Delhi Assembly, the Delhi government had allocated Rs 209 crore to set up 1000 Mohalla clinics across the city. It would be interesting to see how many clinics come up in Jamia Nagar that has only one small dispensary in Batla House that too is in not very good shape.
“The move is a good one. But the real challenge is the facilities. We will wait and see how good the facilities are. In more than 4 lakh population there is only one dispensary. We would ask the government to open a few more to cater to the need of residents,” said Nasim ur Rahman.
