It was at about 12:30 on Sunday when fire brigade and police landed in Okhla’s Abul Fazal Enclave to extricate a cow that had slipped into an open nallah in front of new Al-Shifa extension building, according to an eyewitness.
He said after seeing a cow in the nallah deep, he made a call to the PCR.
Following which after some time police and fire brigade turned up to pull out the cow from the open nallah. Lots of people gathered on the spot and they were concerned about the safety of the animal, said the eyewitness, adding that later on the cow was successfully taken out and left on the road.
Later on, it moved to other side of the road where garbage is dumped in the open.
Just opposite Milli Model School, garbage is dumped in the open and every day many animals, including cows and pigs, turn up to feast on the garbage dumped there by residents.
It was for the first time that one cow moved to the side of the open nallah and by accident slipped into the nallah until it was rescued by fire brigade, said a resident.
For years, residents have demanded for the covering of the nallah as they feel it is the breeding ground of mosquitoes with garbage and polythene dumped in it.
