3-year-old Farhin rescued from kidnapper in Okhla

A three-year-old girl Farhin was rescued from a kidnapper by the local police of PS New Friends Colony, according to officials.

The incident took place at a time when 22-year-old Shabnam, a resident of Taimoor Nagar, was coming back from her husband’s meat shop near nala Taimoor Nagar with her two kids.

She carried her boy Arsh in her arms and her baby girl Farhin was walking behind her, said police, adding that at one point, Farhin was left almost 20yards behind her when a man identified as vagabound Ashok Negi of Taimoor Nagar aged 30 years kidnapped her and tried to run away.

Taken aback by the incident, the toddler screamed and as her mother was not for away she too felt something was wrong and shouted for help and chased the kidnapper. By that time other passersby also joined in to foil the kidnapping incident. And it was then when one police man on patrolling duty in the area reached there and rescued the girl, said the official.

“Quick response of Ct. Lilu and his presence and vigil in the area averted the incident and prevented the minor girl from being kidnapped. There was a huge gathering who resorted to beating the apprehended accused, however, Ct. Lilu saved the accused too. Immediately SHO/NFC along with staff too reached the spot and handled the situation,” said Romil Baaniya, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East District.
