As claimed by Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan on Friday that after 4:30 pm he, along with local police and others, will launch a campaign in Batla House to dismantle encroachment, the drive was initiated today.
Sharing a few photos of the drive, Khan wrote: “Today we began the drive to dismantle encroachment in Batla House. Approached shopkeepers and vendors and patiently informed them about the encroachment menace. They supported us in our drive. Due to a few people, Okhla residents face hardship. A large number of people and police were on our side today. If I continue to get support from Okhla’s residents then for sure I will succeed in removing the encroachment.”
Moreover, another AAP leader Mahmood Ahmed who was also on the spot, did a FB live of the event. OT.COM was unable to verify the authenticity of the video.
His post solicited a few comments with one user Fiza Khan writing: “No point in carrying the campaign. The jam will be removed today but it will return back the very next day. What will you do then?”
Reacting to an OT.COM report on the issue, resident Haider Abbas wrote: “Nothing will happen. Like last time this time also the MLA will surrender to the pressure of shopkeepers. Despite having 60 foot road in Abul Fazal Enclave, the MLA put divider and even then residents are parking vehicles on the road. Dividers have been wrongly put on Kalindi Kunj Road, Hari Kothi road and Batla House market.”
