It is not for the first time that efforts have been made to occupy Jamia land.
It was only recently when the authorities after years of hard work were able to get their large chunk of occupied land freed from squatters.
A few months ago the land was occupied with people running shops and doing business. However, the land was evacuated then with large number of police force being deputed in the locality. (Watch the video above)
A few leaders turned up on the spot, but were detained to be released. Protesting residents too were detained for a few hours. The whole process to occupy the land had taken days to be completed.
Now, the land has been protected with boundary wall coming up. Chances are that some new university building might come up on the freed land.
